This is an image i've wanted to do for a while. The image of my son was originally taken on Canada Day 2012 (July 1st), i printed it out since the details do not state that all images must be taken in the challenge time frame.
I took the shot of me holding it (wife did shutter pressing, i did all setup) and printed that one out, which my father held for the scene seen above.

technical:
duplicate layer
topaz remask to select Grandfather with frame
levels to max on orignal to make it black
clone-stamp out hot-spots
topaz B&W on mask'd layer
merge
crop
resize

I only get to see my parents once a year on average given the distance between us, so being able to do this shot was special to me.

I hope it scores well (figure this will end mid 5's) but regardless of score it's hanging on the wall in my house and will be hanging on the wall in my parents house, and will always be treasured.

A very nice family photo concept. I think this shot is lacking highlights and shadows leaving it feeling as if it has no depth. It needs to have the exposure bumped up a tad. The black background looks like it was pasted in, leaving the man holding the frame looking 2 dimensional.
