 I couldn't find any drunken stupor pictures of me on new years eve. I'm not quite sure if this was on new years eve or not, date wasn't set, but it should be very close to new years. I think the sticker on my shirt says the 28th, but it's hard to tell.

We were celebrating Christmas at the beach. My wife was pregnant with our first child, due in February. I woke up at 6:00 Christmas morning when her water broke. The local hospital wouldn't admit us because they didn't have the facilities to support a pre-term baby. Instead I had to drive for an hour and a half through a snowing mountain pass with a wife in labor with a pre-term child that would need immediate medical assistance.

All turned out good and my daughter was born on Christmas (thankfully at the hospital, not in the car). This photo was taken a few days later with a crappy point and shoot, no camera flash allowed in the NICU.

Gosh, what a story! Such treatment put you all in danger - you would think they would have arranged an ambulance for you. I'm so glad you were able to function well enough to get to the second hospital. Regardless of any technical shortcomings it is a lovely family portrait.

Yes, this is Jade, she just turned five this Christmas. Thank you everyone for all the comments. I am WAY behind on commenting this side challenge, but I still plan on getting through it and commenting on the majority of them.

OMG what a story - I would have been beyond fuming. Kudos to both of you and congratulations on your daughter's birth. Is this the beautiful child who is about four years old now?
