Challenge: Children's Toy IV (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7
Date: Dec 29, 2012
Aperture: 1.9
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: Dec 29, 2012

So many toys to choose from now that I have a 16 month old (especially right after Christmas). But I wanted to pick something that would work well in a photo. Something classy and with some depth. Something that really shows fun.

Luckily, Cody got this new wooden train set for Christmas. It's perfect. I could build a little scene that would extend out into the distance (at least the bokeh makes it look like a distance). The nice paint and simple shapes give it a classic look. And what is more fun than a train set?

So I set it up in the basement, taking photos and adding pieces until I got the scene I wanted. With some decent light from two flashes bouncing off a dark ceiling I was able to get what I wanted.

Note that this is taken with the Lumix LX7. The small aperture and hot shoe allowed me to setup a strobing scene with this powerful point and shoot.

Great color and pov - a little too close at the bottom for me. Voted earlier.

A fun shot!
I love the bright colors and the narrow depth of field here.

very cute, love those old trainsets with the wooden rails. A little more dof to see the details might have been nice but can't really fault what you have here, good work!

would love more detail here. :(
far too many images in this challenge are falling into the shallow focus field. the whole challenge is about toys, why not let them come out and play properly instead of obscuring them in their moment to shine.

Very cool. Great dof. Nice job setting up the scene.
