Taken October 31

I set up the pumpkins and some peanuts on my deck and waited for the blue jays to show up.

Not shot through a window, the jays don't mind me being outside and close as long as there are peanuts there for them.

I also have some with the scarecrow:

Jays are feisty, all right! Very dynamic pose here, and nicely composed.

No, I wasn't shooting through a window. I was out on the deck. Once I put peanuts out the jays are not long coming and don't care that I am there. I've gotten much closer than this to the jays at other times.

Not sure what diffraction you are talking about?

Great idea, especially with the soft autumn colors in the background, too. You got the perfect moment on the jay - gorgeous capture.

Orange is a great color to show off the bluejay's blue. I feed them peanuts, too, they're such characters. This is a beautiful clear shot.
