This is the sidewalk in a gloomy cold overcast day, ambien temperature was around -5ÂșC. I believe the shot was taken around noon. The regular rains trap leaves from the surrounding maples against the sidewalk, after a few days the imprint of the leave ends up transferred to the concrete. I originally wanted to capture one of these impressions after a strong rain when they are partially washed away, but the weather was too cold and everything was frozen. I found this one that seemed to be unusually well defined and took a few shots. I imagine the two direction were due to how the concrete was flatten at the time of pouring it.
The processing is quite simple, a very weak tone-mapping (I believe I applied in difference mode). Levels slightly modified because the centre was too blown out for my taste. Some minor global sharpening and a slight desaturation.
At three days for roll-over it sits at 6.18 and 2 comments. I was expecting more comments but what I found strange is that there are 64 votes with 156 views which suggests that 50% voters have view the image three times.
Overall I am quite happy with the image how it turned out. I would have preferred to have the transition between the horizontal and inclined lines in the centre and the leave a bit more towards the centre in accordance with the rule of thirds. But I found these to be minor defects.
