Day 10 - A little cuttlefish. Who is not really a fish at all. Cuttlefish are sometimes referred to as the "chameleon of the sea" because of their remarkable ability to rapidly alter their skin color at will. Cuttlefish change color and light polarisation to communicate to other cuttlefish and to camouflage themselves from predators.

And btw - these are also a real challenge to photograph!

I think he's sticking his tongue out at us. Pretty sure he doesn't have a tongue. They really are masters at diguise :-)

Good job on this, Kelli - you are right about the challenge to photograph them. Well, to photograph anything in an aquarium as Richard says. I watched the most fascinating show on public television the other night with a segment on these guys. They not only change color but also texture (or at least appear to do so). So cool.

Beautiful colors in this aquarium. I think it's really difficult to focus in this situation. And, then, there's the diffraction of light rays through thick glass and water. You've done a good job on this one.
