Decided to try carving a pumpkin for the first time. Turns out a potato peeler and youtube videos can get you decent results.
After that it was a question of getting a long exposure shot in front of my fireplace. I used auto bracketing and a wireless shutter remote. I combined the pics using photoshop's basic HDR feature and finally some cropping, levels and Hue/Saturation adjustments later, I got this result.
