 An empty chrysalis from one of the Monarchs I coddled this summer. Backlit by the sun, bokeh is from trees in the background. Wanted a subject whose emptiness was interesting. Not sure of my photographic negative space is sufficiently empty, but it reminds me of the swirling smoke of a magic trick.

PP - cropped, levels, duotone, increased contrast, sharpened chrysalis, blurred background more, resized, sharpened, added border.
