Went on a holiday to Botswana and what an experience. This was posted while we were still out in the bush at a lodge and had to amke use of a friend of mine's data connection.
There were so many images to choose from and I did not have time to even go through them but 2 images popped up in my mind (rather moments in the day) and this was one of them.
I still remember the first time i saw these animals (brown spotted Hyena)running towards us on our second day out. This shot was taken on another day but that particular morning I just new I had to get a shot of these animals portraying something about their character.
The ran with a mission..spread out over 3-400meters maybe..a pack of 6, maybe 7 in a straight line stretching over the dry land visible in this image. 50-100meter appart and when the one stops..the other one stops..they look, smell the air and investigate everything. We were of special interest to them at times as we sat in an open Land cruiser used for game viewing. We are always safe but it remains an eary feeling. At one point I fired a string of images at 10frames a second as they fought and bullied another into submission as it was new to the pack. Bloodied and crippeled in the hind leg he finally was left allone. I recorded some of the noises and only got the last bit of the whole action as I was shoooting and asked my wife to record with the phone.
Thanks for the nice comments and from them it looks like people understood it for what it is.

They are such reminders of animal savagery, I believe that even though they do not know good or evil, they are on the side of latter. Excellent bloody realism.

Eeeesh. What a full belly. She really looks like she needs a vet but we know better than to climb out the OSV with a First Aid Kit right? Lovely yet for some a disturbing image. This is RAW nature.

Holy crap! I hope you were in a car or something when you shot that. That's one scary looking animal. I can't stop looking at it. Nice composition too.
