all adjustments applied to entire image/no selections

invert, unsharp mask, flip/rotate, and crop in Capture NX2

further adjustments using Color Efex Pro
-Dark Contrasts (bring out detail/texture)
-Color Stylizer (shift tint to blue)
-Glamour Glow (slight blur/lighten of highlights and shift tint even more towards cool/blue tones)
-Simple Border

final adjustment to contrast, size and save for DPC using Capture NX2

The blue here is certainly forced, but it does work. Very effective image - simple yet complex at the same time. Nice concept. Well done.
