After few days of voting, I feel the need to clarify why I think that my image is an architectural shot.

I don't think that an architectural shot necessarily needs to be an image of a building.

Here is the definition of architecture found in the dictionary that comes with every Mac. Whereas the first item cleary refers to buidings, the second does not.

architecture
noun
1 the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings.
• the style in which a building is designed or constructed, esp. with regard to a specific period, place, or culture: Victorian architecture.
2 the complex or carefully designed structure of something: the chemical architecture of the human brain.
• the conceptual structure and logical organization of a computer or computer-based system : a client/server architecture.

Also in the Roget's 21st century thesaurus we found two definitions of architecture:
1. design of buildings
2. design, structure of something, composition, constitution, construction, formation.

Based on these definitions and on different examples of architectural shots that can be found on the web, I would come up to the definition of an architectural shot as a graphic or abstract image that is built on symmetry, reflections, converging/diverging lines, repetition, perspective, etc.. and which illustrates the structure of something. All that may be found in a picture of a building, but not only. This image aims to be in that vein. At least, something more original than an image of a skyscraper on a blue sky… Just my thoughts… Any comments and critics welcome!

HI Stanley, welcome to the Critique Zone!

It's an interesting take on the challenge. You are, of course, quite right about architecture but unfortunately you can't speak to the voters during voting! Still, it's a very attractive shot so that is what matters.

Technically, I am interested that with an aperture of f22, you still could not get the DOF to get the whole row of piles into focus. This is starting to move into refraction problems territory! I wonder if just capturing the whole of the front one might have been more effective? The lighting is great.

Artistically, it's fun btu it becomes a real personal question as to whether the tilted effect is interesting or unbalancing. I'm not sure.

This is such a personal choice photo that there isn't really much more I can say - I hope that it was of some interest!

Happy hunting,

Frank.
