In my view this shot loses on the lighting side and makes you look strangely dirty maybe like you need a shave, that and the eye darkness/focus spoil it for me. |

To my eyes the issue with this as a stock image is that it is too unique, from the makeup to the framing it lacks that bland attractiveness that is the hallmark of stock imagery. |

Like I said I will comment on this like someone submitting an image for critique at shutterstock and if it is good enough to get into shutterstock it will for sure get on Alamy. Shutterstock has much tougher reviews than alamy. Your eye is soft and is underexposed, it should be the sharpest part of the image and be the focal point. Your aperture and ISO are wrong for stock. You need to shoot at 100 ISO or you will get them rejected for noise and you can't use noise software or they will reject you for that. Your aperture is 2.0 for stock it is preferable to have an aperture of 7-11 sometimes I can get away with 5 if I have a tripod and make sure the focus is just where I want it. The whole image needs to be in focus, right now I see that the DOF is really shallow so that parts the necklace her lips are in focus but nothing else is. So you need to find a way to get more light to your subject so that you can use a smaller aperture. Use flash but not on board or it will be too harsh, you can also use large reflectors that work well.
For stock you must be able to enlarge this image 100% and still have every thing sharp so for this photo you should be able to zoom into the eye and see individual eyelashes. I will go resize one of mine I submitted yesterday and show you what I mean. |

To me the image just seems a bit flat, there is no sparkle to the eyes and nothing that really grabs me. I know you can pull off some great portraits but for me this one just is, well, boring. |
