I was going for a more wild water shot with water coming off of the drill etc. The drill is indeed spinning the hard drive platter which makes for some fun but difficult to control dynamics.

I did get some shots close to what I wanted, but never quite with all of the elements in place (and always some fatal flaw). So, I decided to keep it simple with this shot "between" shots that I took while the disk spun dry. I like the way the water trails look like star trails.

near dead center subject and aspect ratio hurt this otherwise terrific concept and capture.

Cool! This worked out pretty ok, I don't know if I quite 'get' what you're saying here, but the look, feel, crop, execution, processing, etc are all spot-on. I expect to see this one near the top.
