Shot with the godlike Helios, not anyone's first standard choice of macro lens but life is full of surprises like that. 36+20+12mm = 68mm of extension tubes to let it focus closer. In fact this lens performs surprisingly well as a macro piece of glass; it has no internal focusing, the focusing mechanism moving the entire assembly away from the film plane, so it suffers relatively little from aberrations and distortions as it gets closer to its subject.
Intention was to evoke fireworks exploding. The subject is a dandelion, picked early before dawn, and kept in the dark to photograph so it wouldn't unfurl its parachutes too soon.
In retrospect it would have been good to take a timelapse of the unfurling process, as it happened a lot faster than i expected... maybe next time
