This was taken at the Bradford Washburn Mountaineering Museum in Golden, CO. It's one of the old boots that was used to scale some of the largest peaks prior to the development of Vibram soles.

Interesting, gritty shot. I attended the School of Mines in Golden for a few semesters, before I decided rocks might not be my thing.

I bet they gripped wet rocks better than Vibram, nice glimpse of a bygone time.
