Unfortunately the light in this image is quite flat. On my monitor there are no details in the dark areas, and both the mid-tones and lightest areas are rather dull looking. Not what I would expect to see in an Ansel Adams' photo IMO. There is something very majestic about the way this gull is standing though.

Good shot but there are no whites in this image. Adams made sure to cover all the zones.

Good seagull portrait. However, this is a flat image. The dynamic range is not wide. This would have been fine with more dynamic light bouncing around.
