The flash was on the floor in front of me, in retrospect I should have put it on the camera and bounced it from the little white card thing or at least tied it to the tripod leg, either way the shadows wouldn't have been so odd..

Yeah, bounce would have helped. This looks like I am a cop shining a flashlight in your face and asking you how much you've had to drink tonight. ;-)
