Had a much safer - yet not quite purist landscape - image entered. Was double dared by Bear_Music to enter this experimental image. What was I supposed to do??? If this tanks, it's his fault and I will be seeking the services of a ninja on the East coast...

One of my very last shots in the Mojave. We were literally driving out of the park and came upon one of many such collections of discarded lives. This was the rear window of a Renault, which sat side by side with another - different model - Renault. You find the oddest stuff in the desert... I was captivated by the color of the shattered glass and how it served as a frame around the hole, which featured a classic desert view. I anticipate many DNMCs and some griping about the blurriness of the upper left quadrant. I'd be happy if this stays over 5...

Re all the comments about the DOF, etc., this was, in all honesty, a shoehorn. I did not shoot it for the challenge, but when editing my work from that day, I realized it might work. Had I shot it for the challenge, it would likely have included more (focused) landscape, and less window :-)

YES, I enjoy the experiments.. YES, I like this shot for it's individual-ness. I love the color most of all.

I wouldn't say this "tanked", so call off the ninjas :-) Right in the middle of the pack, pretty cool for such an off-the-wall take on the topic.

This was a good find. I notice the way the "rays" of cracks in the glass work to draw me to the hole, and into the scene beyond. This took some extra effort. I know that it's not comfortable to set up and shoot to the rear from the inside of a car.
This scene might have worked better with an ultra wide or fisheye, using very small aperture for great DOF, and by getting less of the glass, like a frame, and a longer part of the horizon.
It's different, and I see that I'm not the only one who likes that. Congrats on your new fish!

I very much enjoy this.

Also, it reminds me of a shot of my own.

I appreciate the attempt to creatively frame the landscape, but this feels like more of a broken window shot. I can't see much of the landscape through that hole, and I don't get the connection between the broken window and the landscape.

I like the sharpness of the glass (no pun intended) but the out of focus mountain bothers me a little. Perhaps two exposures shot for sharpness then blended in PS layers. Still it's a nice image, good composition.

This would be better imho if the focus was on the landscape rather than the glass and if you had used the glass as more of a border around the subject. Cool idea though.
