 I have only ever seen this bird this one time. I didn't know what it is, and didn't know enough about what it might be to look it up. Richard hahn23 has identified it for me.
It was on the pier at Port Fairy, and comfortable enough with people around for me to be able to shoot it from different angles.

Very similar to our Black Crowned Night Heron. Nice environmental image.
