I'd like to see more highlights in the eyes. If you have a reflector, or something you could use as one, that would probably help cut down on the glare along the nose and on the forhead, and distribute the light better. Failing a reflector, more exterior lighting instead of a flash would be beneficial as well.
Subject also seems a touch out of focus to me, but that could just be my eyes.. I *am* rather tired.
Except for those two suggestions, this is a nicely shot photo. Well cropped, and a good expression. I like to see photos of children with looks other than the usual "smiling for the camera". Also, if you have any shots of him in 3/4 profile, looking off camera, those would make good companion shots as well.
*EDIT* The shadow under the chin, which is a little distracting, could be lessened by better lighting/reflector as well :)
