These guys are about the size of a cardinal. Very pretty bird with the red patch on its behind. They're also song birds so sing constantly.

A lot of local people hate them because they eat off of the local fruit trees. They really like mangoes, papayas, and avocados. My dad had a Thai bird chili plant and the BulBuls would pick them off even when they were still green. I'd constantly hear my did swearing up a storm in the backyard. He bought a BB gun to shoot them :( but it didn't matter. He was such a poor shot, he never even got close to hitting one.

Even with that red target...glad your dad is a bad shot! I've never heard of BulBuls- love the name.

The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer). I love these exotic birds, which I've never seen before. This looks to be a distant relative of our jays.
