Nice...Kentucky Red.
There are a some here in Hawaii but the Red Creasted Cardinal is much more common here. |

Last spring a pair nested in my lilac bush but unfortunately a squirrel/cat got to the eggs & the female. The male hung around for a week or so, which was sad to see. Afterwards, I didn't see him for awhile but he eventually reappeared with a new mate & they were regulars at my feeder this winter. They are especially beautiful against the snow. |

Full breeding plumage. The cardinals are not found in the CO mountains. It is a bird I miss, especially when I need a color accent in winter. |
