Pretty! We have purple finches here but rarely house finches. |

Hmmm... I just looked back at my 'purple finch' & it does look like the house finch. I found a site that described how to differentiate the two. "The bill of the Purple Finch is conical shaped whereas the upper mandible of the House Finch is curved downward."
Looking closely at my picture, the upper mandible curves down- you were correct! I've been mislabeling these little finches for years.
