Okay so after a handful of votes sitting at just over 5.7. not bad but expected slightly higher. Only time will tell if this can crack 6.

Thanks Garry. I did use a spirit level. I guess it is more elevated on the right due to the spiral stairs but I'll straighten it out and see how it looks.

Thanks Snaffles. Funny enough this place is usually filled with people. However, it was really cold when I took this shot and the area was desserted. I did use a tripod though with a cable release to prevent motion blur.

Thank you for the kind and constructive comments. It certainly helps and is much appreciated.

Solid first entry in the Free Study', Glenn!! Nice one. Snaffles has some good advice. I'd add straightening the horizon to her suggestions..but otherwise, good start!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a shot with tons of potential, I just wish there was some sign of life to bring it all together and animate it. It looks like a stage set with the planking and looming buildings, we're just waiting for the actors to appear. You made good use of the lighting available to you; I'm guessing you used a tripod (or were able to hold really, really still) for this shot. If you're able to, try and reshoot on an evening when people will be around. Set up your camera on a tripod, stay with a small aperture and set the timer for a good 30 seconds or so. You should get all kinds of cool blur and ghosts as people stand still, move and walk through the frame, because IMHO that's all that's missing.

Overall very nice work, do keep on shooting and entering!

Feel free to PM me,

Susan
