Inspired by the thread SDW posted " Color on Color IV: is black and/or white a color?" so I thought I would shoot it and see what the voters think. My guess 33% say no.

First time I ever used a jacket sleeve as a snood to channel the output of a flash, I liked the results.

Shot with 2 off camera flashes, converted from raw in lightroom, slight rotation, sent to PS, levels and contrast, topaz denoise, usm, save for web usm and post.

It is probably too polished to go for the brown, but there is hope.

Before Shreck said it....

“Life is like an onion: you peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep”

Post challenge note:
No colors were harmed in the making of this image, it is not monocrome or de-saturated, it was just a bunch of white stuff, there are blues, yellows and pinks in there, but they are subtle.

Then shame on me. LOVE the idea of using a sleeve as a snoot. I'm gonna try that too :-)

I can learn a lot from the ay you lit this scene. It's just magnificent.

Stellar detail and composition, although I don't consider monochrome entries in the spirit of the challenge.

The finely rendered tonal gradations are eyepopping, but I'm aghast. Why enter such a beautifully executed image in a "color" challenge? OK, maybe it's not purely monochrome, but......c'mon. A reluctant 7. In another challenge who knows maybe an 11.

Ahh the age old question are B&W colours?
I don't care, i just like what i see here.
Simplistic, well lit and great detail.

Soups on, I am guessing that some people will not like the shadow on the left.

I love this shot. The peelings, the color, the lighting. The fact that it doesn't appear to be over processed. Everything about this shot is wonderful! One of my top picks, for sure.

I love the boldness of this shot, the texture & detail is well controlled yet it has a wonderful 'messiness' to it that I enjoyed. I have started selecting my personal top 3, congrats on 3rd

Look, an ogre! (reference, shrek) I like the depth of field, and the (what appears to be) tone mapping. Very clean image.
