The results of the Zen Photography IV challenge have been recalculated, due the disqualification of the former 5th place image for being taken outside of the challenge dates. Congrats to our new honorable mention!

dpc, please accept my deepest apologies

when i came back from vacation and entered this challenge, i was absolutely sure that i had taken that photo on monday, not sunday, and i was thrilled at the thought of having taken an image that might fit a topic. it was through an absolute mental lapse that i overlooked the actual date. while i appreciate the votes, comments, and such, i feel terrible for them to have come at the expense of the other legitimate entries.

Well Skip, that's what ya get for losing track of time while on vacation ;-)
Sorry to hear of the DQ... sounds like something I'd do, LOL!

Well. That's about the classiest DQ I've seen yet around here.

Well done Skip, well done.

Don't feel bad Skip. I've come so close to doing that exact same thing numerous times, and it's almost always a "did I shoot that Sunday or Monday?" situation.

No worries.

How dare you take vacation!! If you hadn't -- there wouldn't have been this problem. :)

Very inconsiderate of you. :P

(But I'm glad I got to see the shot -- I liked it a lot. :)

Awww, Skip. You just make the rest of us feel better. If *you* can make a mistake
(and own up to it with such class) the rest of us can too.

See ya in the top five page soon, again.

:)

I've even submitted them before, then I always do an update an add the title and details, and that's when I've caught it. It's usually after long weekends or camping trips.

When uploading a photo it automatically defaults to the date when it was taken, it does for me!

Oops. I read this wrong. When I upload, it always defaults to the upload date, not the taken date. I have to go back and open properties in PS to see the date taken. It's a PIA actually. It's very easy to make a mistake filling in this info.

It does for me too if I upload from a resized image that is saved that is also within 300kb. However, if I need to 'save to web' in photoshop to reduce the resized image to under 300kb (which is most of the time) I have to enter all of the shot details manually including the date shot.

no, it defaults to the date taken, i just tried it with a photo from last year...
but i have not tried "save to web" so that may be it.

Yes, I always save for web which strips all the info.

thanks for the support, and again, my apologies - this wasn't my intention. it really is easy to be complacent and overlook simple things, even when it's in your face. no different than missing a car inspection or license plate renewal. it happens. it's only when it becomes habitual that you have to start wondering and worrying ;-)

Ah, everyone has a DQ once in a while, I suppose. Most of them are not intended, but we're all human:) Still like you're image!
07/11/2012 02:32:59 PM · #22
Still a fantastic image, Skip. Sorry about the DQ but my only regret is giving it a 9 instead of 10 :).
