I want to submit some pictures that I took a month ago, how do I or can I find out what settings were used on a photo? Such as Aperture, Film Speed (ISO), Shutter Speed is their software that will tell me this? Yes I know I am a newbie... :-)

That information should be contained in the EXIF of the photo. If you've edited them there is a good chance the information won't be there anymore. If you don't have an editing program that can tell you the information there are many EXIF viewers available. A web search will produce many links.

Hiya!

Everytime I see your name, I think of the song (which I like) by Trace Atkins (Chrome).

At any rate, do you use your Camedia software at all? If you open it and click on any photo, go to the top bar and click on "properties" and it will open a dialog box with all the information. I found it even gives me information from my Fuji that I used up until 2 months ago.

Hope this helps!

Chrome,

Be aware that challenge photo's must be taken within the challenge period, and can't be from the past. (Unless special rules apply to the challenge.)

oh ok good to know, still trying to figure out what Aperture, Film Speed (ISO), Shutter Speed are in compression to what I am looking at in AcDsee or Adobe Photoshop
I would figure the following.

Film Speed (ISO)= ISO speed rating 100?
Shutter Speed = Exposure time? 1/640sec?
Aperture = Max Aperture Value? 2.1 or would this be F2.1?

Does any of this make sense? I have uploaded the picture i have been looking at if someone can glance at it and possibly correct me it would be greatly appreciated.

the "Max Aperture Value" isn't where you should be looking. Look at the value next to "Aperture Value" that is what the aperture was set at when you took the shot. The other values are correct.

yeah i dont see anyway that photo could have been taken with f2.1

I am not seeing a aperture other then the "Max Aperture Value" no where else does it say aperture unless its called something else. In that pic i have in my profile i see a reading of 2.0625 does that make any sense?

Sorry guys I guess i have to learn sometime. lol

I just looked up a photo from an old Olympus camera to see how Olympus had their EXIF fields listed. The aperture value is listed in the "F-number" field. It should be reported just below (or really close to) the "Exposure time". At least it is for the C-3040z. Take a look for that field. The "Max. aperture value" should be the widest opening available from the lens BTW.

Yes i downloaded a program that tells me its f2.0. Hmmmm the program if anyone is interested is called Exif Read and is free. Surprised Adobe Paintshop or ACDsee didn't tell me that or i didn't know how to read it. lol

Thanks All

surprised nobody mentioned how to do it in PS. - and not sure if maybe you already knew this and i just misunderstood the question.. but here it goes:
simply open the file, make sure it's the active window.. then go to File, File Info. From there, if you have Photoshop CS, go to Advanced, Exif Properties. If you have 7.0 (or before, I assume), from File Info there should be a drop down box.. just click that and pick exif from the list.

Yes I do have Paintshop 7.0 and been in their but for some reason its not showing it as a f2.0. Doesn't matter the program I downloaded is faster and free. :-)
