Hey,

For those of you who don't know what netvibes is, click here.

I'm working on a module for netvibes to make dpc even more addicting than it already is.
You can see how it looks here: //www.alexyz.com/Services/dpc/index.php - this also works without netvibes! (url updated)

Right now it just shows 3 random thumbnails from the site and lets you click on them to see the full image page.

I'm also thinking of incrorporating a random comment page - Each time you see a photo from a pre-selected list (people should submit their image ID's to get comments) or from the entire pics on the site and after you write a comment you see another image from the list.

It's a good way to strengthen the community and be exposed to images more easily.

Any feedback is welcomed.

great idea....I've been hooked on netvibes for about a fortnight now. Fancy making this opensource so people can help and produce a single flexible, powerful dpc module.

ideas...

on topic

1) link to the current voted challenges details .. //www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_vote_image_details.php?CHALLENGE_ID=52
2) retrieve current entered challenges (the update button!!) ..
(love to know if this is possible, think lots would use this)

off topic

1) RSS feeds, that would be a great thing. This has been raised in many a thread

reckon there is loads that could be done...

I got to checking it out and got distracted by one of the links to here. The production work for "Call on me" is great. I love when they pan over to the patrol car and back.

TechnoShroom - Can you be more specific ? A printscreen perhaps ?

Anyway, the script now supports display of scores & comments of currently entered challenges (like KHolt requested).
You need to click on the Edit link and submit your dpc user/pass for it to work.

I've only tested it on a single-image submission (1 photo affected by the update button) - People with more than one, please inform me if it works well for you.

To add the module in netvibes click on 'Add content' -> 'Mini API Module' -> Paste this in the url: //alex.vixer.net/dev/dpc/index.php

Isn't this kinda like hot linking. Which is a bad thing.

The random picture thing is pretty cool.

Noticed one problem, if you hit the refresh button of the module you get the following error.....

Problem while parsing the module. Not valid XML.

looking good though!

Changes:
+ Added an option (under Edit) to select how many random thumbnails to view.

+ Many small fixes, including the alignment problem and XML.

+ The renowned Update button is now included in the module! :)

this is not a bug, this is a feature :-P

More seriously, it just fits the amount of thumbnails you see to the window width without cutting the edges.
If you put 2 tab rows in a page you won't have this wrapping, or you can always selecte more/less images.

The alignment issue isn't that some photos get pushed to a second row, although that doesn't quite look right, rather that the top and bottom rows touch in Fx and not in IE.

I don't get it. What's the point? Is this legit with DPChallenge owners?

We already have this... Browse Photos ...and don't have to go outside of DPChallenge to get there.

I freely admit I'm a bit paranoid about identy and identy theft issues. Anybody entering their DPC ID and password into this netvibes deal is giving their DPC identity away.

Not an accusing anybody of anything. Not implying nefarious intent. Just a thought.

TechnoShroom - You were right, issue solved.

glad2badad - This is only a widget, a fun tool to quickly get info from dpc without surfing actually surfing to the site. it is useful especially when you have many sites that you gather info from and when you used netvibes, it's all merged into a single handy interface.

Dr. Confuser - netvibes is a serious company (Company's About, Article about netvibes), I see no reason to suspect an identity theft from them.

When I loaded the page, one of the random photos I got was from a member's portfolio workshop folder. This folder is not ordinarily accessible except to the owner or through the the image id number (which, I assume, is how you select random photos.
