Matt

Could we ask participants to specify where they are located - there may be occasions when one of us has an item to give but postage would be more than the value of the item so it would only be worthwhile giving it to someone we can meet in person.

If location could be shown next to names in the original thread that would be great.

I'm in London, England

Oh, I PM'd her yesterday too about a tripod...I guess only one of us needs to send it, so is there anyone else who needs a mini tripod?

mavrik - PM'd you
12/08/2005 09:52:41 AM · #135
you've got PM mark. :)

I know several people are working on wishes - if you can PM me the resolution of those once you have one, that'd be fantastic!

I also wanted to thank everyone who has participated so far and the overwhelmingly positive response I've gotten here and via PM! I can't thank everyone individually (tho I'm trying where possible) but it definitely shows a side of DPC we miss during rants and score threads and .. we have a great community and I'm glad to be doing this with you guys.

This is such a nice idea! I'm going to check this post constantly now to see if there's anything I can do.

Here's my list:

Lighting
external flash for the 20D
A decent tripod
Canon lenses

Christmas wish list?
Since my dad got laid off on his birthday. Can I wish for dad getting another job soon?
I really hope he does though.

Where does he live and what does he do? Lots of DPC'ers have other jobs - what if someone here was an HR manager near you and interviewed your dad? Put your wish details in and who knows? :) Happy holidays!

Wow, are you serious? Well, my dad is located in South East Asia, and works around petroleum companies. He was just laid off by Halliburton. He's British though. My dad can be rather expensive though. I've heard him talk something like being offered a job with like a 2 year contract, US$800 a day, plus living expense.
Thanks a lot though, for now all I can do is wish and hope.

I think it would be a good idea if anyone interested would participate in a grant program to purchase a dslr for someone who is a member and cannot legitimately afford or acquire the camera. Perhaps everyone interested could contribute whatever they could afford to a fund for dpc Holiday Camera grant..it could be just like paying for a membership, all the money could be put toward a dslr, if enough is collected, maybe two cameras...then members could apply for the grant camera and the most needy be decided by a vote of all members.

It's a great idea - what happens if not enough $ is raised and where do we buy the cams from? Cuz you can get a 300D for around $400-450 on FredMiranda and I've had absolutely no problems dealing with them.

Ok, I've had enough time to stew over this wish list for several days now, and aside from world peace and ending hunger (I have those answers down in case I ever enter the Miss Universe Pageant), I would really love to find an old friend of mine. I've tried google-ing with no luck.

1. Her name is Olusola Olowude (born in Nigeria, raised in Italy, last lived in the Netherlands, but has left & may have returned to Rome). She goes by the name "Sola" (pronounced Show-lah) and her father worked for the UN. Would be great to find her since she owes me money. Just kidding!

2. If someone could PM me and tell me an inexpensive and easy way to set up my very own website...that would be awesome. I honestly don't even know where to start.

And for the person who wanted to find his/her soulmate, lots of luck to you!!! I wish everyone could find his/her soulmate. And for those who are ill (or have family members who are), my prayers and regards.

17 days left!

I updated the list to include your wishes phatphoto. It's definitely not too late to add your wishes guys & gals. Put your list of up to 10 things you wish you could get for Christmas and see what fellow DPCers can do for you!

11 wishes filled, 5 or 6 pending! :)

Gee, where's my manners?!? Thanks Mav, and thanks in advance to whomever is able to help.

PS--Still have a portable tripod (~41cm to ~107cm at its tallest). :)

I know kirsty_mcn and hsteg were both looking for a tripod - maybe you can PM them and see what can be worked out. :) And thanks!

lets see,

1. a good light meter that works
2. a safe sync, not just a hot shoe mount
3. random studio props. (this one is something I can give and get)
4. anything coffee realated

thats about it, I am allready getting two alienbee's and I have a room in my house to put them in. this should be fun. I can't wait to find something to give. alas I'm a poor college student, I don't have much extra.
I really like coffee though, that is where all my extra cash goes

Weellll.... being as you asked... :P

1.A wideangle AF lens for Pentax. Something shorter than the 19mm I already have.
2.Any start on Studio Lighting etc. I currently have a couple of largish flashes but they just don't cut the mustard.
3.A professional job. Or a least accompany someone on one for experience.
4.A ribbon :P
5.For my girlfriend to be cured of Lupus.
6.And Arthritis.
7.Another biggish SD Memory Card. (I have a 1GB and keep filling it).
8.RSP. I've had RSE but no support for my camera :( Even when it does arrive I'm not sure I could lose the extra features...
9.Snow. I haven't had a white Christmas for about 12 years. I would love one....
10. There isn't a number 10. Yet. Might come back for this...

Whilst I realise there isn't a great deal can be done for 3,4,5,6 and 9, I thought I'd post them anyway...
