When I first got a digital camera I used the dpreview website a lot. The Olympus forum ran it's own little challenge contest, but only once a month or so, and I wanted more. Did a search for "photo contests" and found this place. :)

I was looking at web sites to help with wedding and portrait photography. One of the sites had a comment about DPC, saying there were some really awesome photographers here. I came over, registered and thought I could walk in with immediate honors. I was humbled immediately... really humbled. Then I started learning, got a membership (more to sell prints, which I haven't done yet) and became an addict. Now life has intervened and I've had to back off some, but I'll keep working at it. It's been well worth the $25.

i very much know how i reached here. I was searching for BW portraits , so that i can sketch them (wanted to do some experimentation with sketching techniques), i used image.google and i got interested in one pic that pulled me here. Its really simple.

A while back, a friend of mine told me about how a friend of hers was on this photography challenge site all the time, and I figured I'd join for the sake of it. I just like showing people my pictures and seeing other people's pictures....

if you want little extra with spider, you can take pictures of spider-man instead. :-)

Everyone is entitled to, and will, make a few mistakes in the course of his/her lifetime. This was one of mine and I blame Google.

Been on DPC since 8/2002. My son told me about it. I'm not sure where he heard about DPC except that he is in the advertising business and he probably found it surfing the web (Do they still use that term?) Anyway, when I look at the pictures I took when I first started here I realize how much I have learned from this website about photography. This obsession has also cost me a small fortune in camera equiptment, my marriage, my job, my house, and my dog. I have also developed tendinitis in my shooting finger and I walk around with one eye permenently closed and one eye open. I find myself going up to homeless people and asking them if they too belong to DPC. Everything I look at is now processed in my mind in stop action and visualized as a picture. If I don't take at least one picture per hour I become disoriented and develop tremors. My wife says I have an addiction and the first step towards healing is recognition. My problem is I recognize it but I don't want to give it up. My advise to new DPCer's is RUN.....RUN before DPC takes over your life!!!!!

I took a beginning photography class from digitalknight. He recommended the site to the class. I've been hooked since. Thanks Doug.

I came, I saw and I stayed. Now I am thinking of taking that next step, buy a real camera and become a member. There is soo much talent here.

When I was looking for cameras, I spent a lot of time at steves-digicams and DCResource. Steves has a POTD and monthly photo contest with links to other POTD sites, and on one of thoes sites, they had this photo of a dandelion entitled Electric Blue (I think..btw if anyone knows which photo I'm speaking of, please let me know) and a link to that photo on this site.

That was it...
