I'm really new to this website but am already crazy for it. I have no photographic experience at all; I just love pictures! Mostly I just take pictures of my family and friends (and I have a ton of those - nearly 10000 since May 04). My pictures are nowhere near the caliber of most of the pictures on this website.

I was just going through some of my pictures from this summer and found this one.

sorry its not on the dpc website, i am not a paying member :( so I dont think i can just post pictures. Or if i can, I can't find out how! haha.

anyway, i was just wanting some of you great artists to look at it and tell me what you think. I find it a neat picture and I enjoy looking at it. It was taken at Relay for Life with my boyfriend, Dan, wearing the sunglasses and me taking the picture with our friend, Gilbert, also in the picture.

I didnt do anything to it - I dont have photoshop or anything (poor college kid!).

Just want some honest opinions. Thanks!

I think it's a very neat idea. The focus is a bit off, as you can see it is focused on your friend's ear. But it's a cool photo!

And just to note, I'm a beginner myself in the world of photography. What matters is having fun with it! The open challenges are great ways to get better. And you can find free software for photo editing.

I think it would have looked a lot better had you had the camera at a different angle so that its not in the picture.. unless thats what you intended. Neat idea though.

Focussing should have been on you and Gilbert, but that is hard to do with a compact camera like yours. Also, the photo has a bluish hue over it, with some colour adjustments you could improve it a lot, I think. Go and work on it with some software, and discover a whole new world. Keep on shooting!

By this picture it looks as though, like myself, you have an artistic talent but problems with the 'technical quality' of photos. If you have manual focus on your camera, definetly use that for situations like in this photo, as mine wouldn't focus properly there either on auto focus. Play with all of your cameras settings, that's how I learned to take pictures.. no one taught me anything except for some ideas I've got from this website since I became a member. Also, photoshop is good for millions of things including salvaging pictures like that, which are really cool but have a few visual problems. It's a good investment. =]
