Just because they're public doesn't make them public domain; 100 years from now, yes, but then folks will just make pictures without troubling with cameras, so, not an issue...

Point taken, however, If you drive a $500 car you may leave it unlocked but a Bentley owner may decide to lock it and add an alarm. Both can still be stolen but an opportunist would not be able to steal the Bentley.

We are all here to show off our pictures, I was suggesting that whilst it is wrong to 'steal' our work it will happen. Maybe we should ask DPC to take this issue up with the site in question?

I also think it is wrong to flame another website because an individual (or two) have broken that websites rules ....

A. In your use of our Service, you agree to act responsibly in a manner demonstrating the exercise of good judgment. For example and without limitation, you agree not to: (a) violate any applicable law or regulation, (b) infringe the rights of any third party, including without limitation, intellectual property, privacy, publicity or contractual rights, (c) use the information available through our Service for any unauthorized purpose, (d) interfere with or damage our Service, including, without limitation, through the use of viruses, cancel bots, Trojan horses, harmful code, flood pings, denial of service attacks, packet or IP spoofing, forged routing or electronic mail address information or similar methods or technology, (e) use our Service to transmit, distribute, post or submit any information concerning any other person or entity, including without limitation, photographs of others, personal contact information or credit, debit, calling card or account numbers, (f) use our Service in connection with the distribution of unsolicited commercial email ("Spam") or advertisements, (g) "stalk" or harass any other user of our Service, (h) collect or store any information about any other user other than in the course of the permitted use of our Service, (i) use our Service for any commercial purpose whatsoever or (j) assist any third party in doing any of the foregoing.

If I (or anybody else) where to steal a picture and display it here (as has been done before) would you want DPC to be flamed by possibly hundreds of irate members of another site?

Yes its wrong but it does happen and I'd prefer to see this sorted out by the websites in question (let Langdon and Co take the photogs side).

hey, I'm often wrong and seldom admit.

This is a terrible manipulation of of Gil P's shot of Bianca.

It seems that most of her photos are from here and alot from the Nude II challenge. It is quite a shame that someone can spend time on creating a photo to have some someone else make a mess of it. :-(

What did you mean by 'flaming the websites'?

Leaving blunt comments for these pictures is totally okay in my opinion, but being nasty is never good...

thats horrible. they make a mess out of it, then wont even say where they got the photo from.

Boy, sounds like you talented photographers are at a real disadvantage here, because people keep wanting to take your stuff.

My position looks pretty good right now. No one wants my stuff on their site, so they don't steal it. All of you folks just need to take crappier pictures, and they won't get stolen.

Problem solved.

In my short time here I have seen many rants that are kept within the forum. I have personally witnessed cross site 'flamming' several times (2 of these resulting in the closure of decent sites) and whilst 'at the time' it seems like a good idea, believe me it is not.

The very fact that we are here (54 posts/868 views) means that this thread has a lot of interest. As members of DPC, comments we make on other forums can be construed as 'from dpc' especially as this thread is active.

I was simply suggesting that we don't make this a 'war' with another website because of the actions of another website member.

Looks like Katie04 is deleting hers...

The question is, what account name will she choose next?
09/13/2004 07:28:13 PM · #59
Thanks, Ecce Signum, for the explanation...makes sense, as I haven't been here long enough to witness the events you're talking about.

I think if comments are left with firmness, but grace, it would be effective in making people aware of what's going on.

Hey, for all I know I could be cutting up a 13 year old kid with a great future in graphic design who didn't fully understand the concept of intellectual property...

Mike, I re read my earlier post and the site closures I refered to where not related to DPC (they where Tropical fish sites). The point I was making of course still stands. I'm sure you would agree that making a comment that, to the writer may appear firm yet fair can (and will) be read as damming by another person, for one, English satire does not travel well ;)

Great stuff! I'm gonna do the same!
I think this guy & katie04 are the same idiot. how come all his stolen shots of women are named katie?

I'm wondering if maybe it was just Katie who stole the photos and this other guy just modifies them. It seems like they have this "club" where people upload their photos and he screws them up in photoshop.
09/14/2004 06:33:18 AM · #66
u are right mk, most of the photos that the koste guy edited were posted by katie for him to edit. that club asks you to post "YOUR" images, so katie was posting anything she wanted, even if it wasnt hers.

Thanx jennifer for bringing this to my attention....not that I can do anything about it expept get really angry.

I can't seem to find a way to leave a message on that webpage.
09/14/2004 10:05:19 AM · #68
There's even a mention: "this photo was stolen from DPchallenge.com".

I'll understand if a person links to a picture...but using it to create really really crappy art makes me ANGRY.....(turning green while my whole clothing tears up...exept my groin......)
09/14/2004 10:26:01 AM · #69
This is really shitty... and yes, when we do post online we have to accept that we're "giving" out work to the world, but it can still be frustrating...and it's certainly not an "hommage"...

Bianca and I (and Martin) are Canadians!

I'm sorry that this happened to you guys. It seems that the girl who was posting the originals to have modified has deleted all her pictures, but some of the folks that modified them still have them up. Can't really blame them as it looks like they thought they were her's to modify. Pretty dodgy if you ask me, though.

Gil, I know some folks have been posting notes on some of the pictures letting them know that they weren't her pictures but I think you have to register to their site to do it.
09/14/2004 10:49:49 AM · #71
this modifier refuses to remove the image and even tells us to "F off"
such a shame
"good come find me and sue me f**k head"

update: now hes removing all posts about how it was stolen

looks like katie is up to it again using a new name

she just edited it and actually gave credit to dpchallenge. amazing.

Yeah I tried and post a comment, but I need to be registered, screw that.

these people are sad.
09/14/2004 11:51:28 AM · #74
So I registered and said:

I'm one of those you ripped-off.. Honnestly..I can understand you have no talent and no life..and that you need to pretend you do, but at least you could have given a comment on my picture before high-jacking it.

I can't wait to get a F**K off.

There is no place to email the person that put the photo up. NOW, I've found that he has it posted on another site too!!

Here's the Other LINK!
