Are the Free Study challenges just that, you can submit whatever you want? Sorry if this is a silly question, i'm still new here and just want to do it right.

Thanks! BEL_Clark

You are right! It is the best of the month challenge.

Every challenge is a free study, you just have to find the title that makes your image fit.

I'm joking of course, but it really does seem like that sometimes. Sometimes some really good pictures are randomly placed in a challenge and you're just like, "Huh??"

Just make sure whatever you submit was taking during the month of the challenge. Your August Free Study has to be taken during the month of August this year.

And make sure your camera thinks today is today, and that the clock is set correctly.

Don't copy your original off the card using a program, use the "copy" function of Windows (or whatever OS you run), and then "Paste" the files into a folder on your computer. That way the original will be intact, then work on copies of the file, keeping the original unmodified, if you win a challenge, or even come close you will be asked to provide your original file. There have been many sad times when a new comer wins and gets disqualified for some violation - so do watch out and keep your original intact.

Also, you'll probably want to learn the difference between Advanced Editing, and Basic Editing... We also have other types of challenges, but these two are the most common. Stick to the rules, to the letter, and you'll be fine.

Hey, and thanks for joining us! Looking forward to seeing you in the forums! (seriously, ask questions and don't be shy - there's a lot of talent around there, and a good number of the best are usually up for helping people learn - so search through the forums, the answer probably is there, and if you can't find anything - just post up a new thread. It's amazing the number of things I've learned here... Just take a look at some of my first entries - hehe, or, actually, please don't! ;) lol!!)

ETA: Holy crap, I liiikeee this one...

Yeah, I'm thinking you need to stay around... (and watch that vote given average plummet like a stone to the ground... heh But until then, I do like that sort of generous voting. )..
