I'm looking to buy a power-pack with 500 w/s of juice; is that enough for in-doors studio photography? What F stops will that produce?

Another question: is it generally cheaper to buy a pack+2heads or 2 stand alone heads?

The answer to "is it enough power" really depends on the size of the space you are lighting, as well as what lighting modifiers you will be using. Also keep in mind that the watt-second rating is sometimes not what it seems. It *should* be a direct measure of the energy output, but often it's stated as "effective W*S", meaning come "correction factor" has been applied (meaning it's probably less, but supposedly is more efficient and therefore puts out the same light as something that truly dissipates the rated energy. In plain language, be careful of marketing-speak.

Cool thanks for that. I am buying 2 AlienBees B800 lights :D

I used to have DynaLites & Profoto lights...hopefully the AB's aren't all that different.
