Thanks...and yes it does help. I will have to keep an eye open for these. I was a photographer for 35 years but the differences between my wonderful Pentax 35mm cameras and this Kodak digital is daunting enough that I feel like I can't do anything. Just maybe you DCPers can help me get some of the confidence I used to have back.

Hi to everyone.
I'm sorry but yes it is to late to join the 2007 FSM. Everyone had to signed up by Jan. 15th and I did allow a second chance signup in Februray for 3 days because people said they didn't see the thread. Due to having to update the complete database I am not able to add anyone else this season.

I have no ideas why but this is the first I've heard of this competition too. And I'm on here all the time. I'd like to sign up too. Hopefully I won't be starting a riot.

Side challenges are just a group of people who get together and compete "on" DPC but usually those challenges are either integrated into the pre-existing ruleset or there are no rules.
In the case of the FS marathon (this thread you are reading now) it is one of those that is integrated into the pre-existing ruleset and is based off of the Free Study entries submitted here. Whatever comments you get during challenge, that is what you get period.
In the case of the 30 Day where I live challenge, that is just a group of folks who want to improve/practice their landscape skills and they comment on each other. Usually no rules in a challenge like that unless it is decided by the group.

Okay... so I am a newbie to DPC and learning as i go. I have a problem with what I consider good enough to enter into the DPC challenges and maybe the side challenges may help me to bolster my confidence.
What exactly is a side challenge? What it sounds like or something ele. WHo does the ratings and awarding points? Are our photos critiqued at all?

Moved from 15 to 14.
Its supposed to be nice and sunny all next week, and I have a full weeks worth of ideas (that I've come up with over the past couple weeks of drearyness in Vancouver). March free study, watch out! I'll be making my move then... |
