Ran into this tip while browsing elsewhere, thought it might come in handy, as sometimes a person gets a used camera without software, or misplaces their disk and then gets a new computer.

For Windows, all you have to do is make a registry key file containing the following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]


Apply to the registry, and then install the "update".

In other words, the installer is just checking for a bare framework in place.

The forum where I found this tip also has some links that are supposed to be for unrestricted Windows and Mac installers. I have not tried them, so don't know if they work or not.
