For people who have them, are they any good?
Do they perform better, worst, etc?
Any brands that are better than the others?

by the way, i have a dRebel.
thanks

Hi-ho,

I use a third party (Un-branded, cheap) BP512/BP511 pack in my G5 (Same pack as your 300).

It's rated at 1400mAh, and seems to last a bit longer, a couple of weeks ago I got just over 500 shots with the LCD off and no flash, and it was just showing low battery. The Original BP511 would only do 350-400 tops.

Charges in the camera just fine, although I don't think the 300D charges in camera?

Given that it was half the price of the Canon Original I think it's fine...

Cheers, Chris.

I also use a cheap unbranded battery. Haven't noticed any difference in performance compared with the original Canon (though I haven't counted shots or anything) so I'm very happy with it.

I have a cheapie battery that lasted about 450 shots with some flash. That's as long as the Canon. I have two cheapie batteries and the one Canon and none of the batteries have died quickly. So far so good.

I used the cheapy batteries with my Canon S50 all the time. And I just ordered 4 of them from eBay for my 300D but haven't got them yet. They are only about $5 each so even if they don't last as long you can afford to keep a dozen of them charged and never run out.

You also have to replace them more often than the expensive ones but even if they are only good for 6 months they are worth the money.

This is where I buy mine (If I can get this link to work) He sells them for under $5 each.
