I had an extension cord thingy for getting it off the camera when I had a film camera. I'm wondering if it will work with the digital... (I'm also wondering where I put it 7 years ago...) :D

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I will be looking through everything posted here. I started looking at some of the spots, but it doesn't make much sense until I can start playing with it.

The flashes arrive on Monday. Stupidly enough, my camera broke last Thursday. Again. 3rd time in a year that I've had to send my 40D into Canon for repair. I do have my 20D for backup, but that keeps getting intermittent error 99s, so we'll see what happens. I'm not a happy canon camper. :(
