Let's see if I have it right...
1.) Battery in G9, no joy
2.) Move battery to other camera, no joy
3.) Put battery on charger briefly, back to other camera, works
4.) Battery back to G9, no joy
5.) Finally, battery back to other camera, no joy again.
If the above is correct, then it might well be that there is a short in the G9 electronics which the battery is sensing. For good measure, make sure the battery is charged *completely* and repeat the trials as above. If you get the above result, I'd bet on a problem with the G9.
