I don't know if every heard about the tornados in Louisiana / Mississipi this past weekend. I went to go visit my uncle this last sunday in Tallullah,Louisiana. This is where the tornado touched down. They are saying that it was an F/3. The tornado had sustained winds of 160 MPH with gust of 200+. It was a truly awe inspiring sight of the destruction that it caused. It travelled along my uncle's road until about 100 feet of my uncles churc, that my grandfather built back during the great depression. then turned and went through an old pecan orchird. The average size of the trees were betweed 4 to 5 feet in diameter. It not only uprooted the trees but they were nowhere in sight.....It looked like a freshly plowed field. The tornado then went down just parallel to the road, taking houses along the way, and then centered on the road again. It continued down the road again taking houses and barns and equipment sheds all the way to my family's land. Then it took a sharp right, knocked one limb out of a cottonwood tree that is on the corner of the land and went out across another cornfield just to meet up with the road again. It then traveled down and took out a very old church that had been there for years when my fater was born. The only thing left of the church was the front steps. After the church it took out a Northup Gruman shipyard and a chemical plant. I saw a train that had been pushed over by this thing. Anyway I took alot of pics and I will post them as soon as I can. I mainly started this post to ask for prayers. These prayers are not for me or my family. They are for the people that were actually affected. I talked to one family that had no insurance. These people have now lost everything. The oldest person living in that household was 92. However, beyond losing everything that you own there was no loss of life in the area. There was someone home in every house that was effected, however, there were no fatalites. I will post some pics on this forum soon...

This was a tractor shed that was located next to a house....Both were destroyed. The family was hiding by their brick fireplace. That was the only thing left standing.

Here is a pic of a train that was turned over by the Northrop Gruman shipyard

Goodness, that most certainly was a powerful blast.

On the good side, no one was killed... Material things can always be replaced. The very best of luck to your family members.

Here is a tree that had tin wrapped around it from one of the structures that was around there.

This is a house that was totally destroyed while the people were home.

I'm suprised that only Ray has commented on the destruction that this tornado brought....These pics were taken when it measures an F3 but it reached f4 later.

It could be that after the devastation in Haiti, Chile, China, Indonesia and others places, that people are becoming a bit numb to these tragic events.

This possibility notwithstanding, I most certainly can appreciate the pain that your family, friends and neighbours are experiencing, and one can only hope that they can pick up the pieces and carry on with their lives.
