Being in the printer industry, this immediately caught my eye. This could solve a lot of color matching problems and really shake up the printing industry. Apple CMY display design could be boon for print production

That's a pretty good summary/explanation of the difference between the additive and subtractive color models.

In addition to this idea of using "filters" I think I recently heard of some other monitor manufacturer(s?) working on monitors which use non-RGB phosphors/color elements. I suspect within the next couple of years we'll be presented with a whole new gamut of color management opportunities headaches ...
