I have the 18-55mm kit lens, but that's the only lens I have that's shorter than 50mm. It's light and it has full metering/autofocus, but I don't mind a heavier lens and I've been getting into older (and better) manual focus lenses... so the no metering/no AF isn't that bad. The problem is, wide angles are already expensive... on DX, getting true wide angle images becomes even more expensive. Here are a few prices (all from eBay, Buy It Now):
15mm f/3.5 AI-S - $800 OBO
20mm f/2.8 AF - $325 OBO
20mm f/2.8 AI-S - $475 OBO
20mm f/3.5 AI (Nikkor-UD) - $225
20mm f/4 AI - $500
24mm f/2 AI-S - $400
24mm f/2.8 AF - $200
24mm f/2.8 Non-AI - $150
24-50mm f/4 - currently $150 with three hours left (auction)
Considering I bought a 50-135mm f/3.5 for $128, these seem wildly expensive. My best shot seems to be the Tokina 11-16mm ($600 new; won't focus, but it's very very very wide) + my 18-55mm kit lens. Thoughts on other options?

| You might consider the Sigma 10-20mm; the original version (as opposed to the newly released version) costs just under $500 new and is widely owned by DPC people. |

| I love my Tokina 12-24. It is the lens that I use more than any other. |
