I was hoping to find out what other people use when doing stock shots. i do some catalogue work for a company and the product is isually black or a shiny metalic/silver. what i have been using in the past is a plain white posterboard or a black piece of fabric. I wanted to know if anyone had any other ideas.

The traditional but expensive material to use is solid-colored velvet -- the fibers absorb/scatter the light so you don't get hot spots or reflections or flare when using bright studio lights.

Search the forums for "light" and "studio" and you should find many threads describing how people set up a home studio, lighting, lightbox, etc.
