Hello again,

I've been stepping up my portraiture game lately and would deeply appreciate your comments, critiques and feedback on the below portrait. Please speak your mind and be as nitpicky as you please.

Make sure you view it full sized.

Thanks

I think you have done an excellent job. I cant think of anything else to add! It's a wonderful portrait and the B&W is so much better than the original version.

All in all an excellent job, but a couple things I notice: the skin tones aren't very faithful to the reality, and the teeth have been cleaned up to the point of looking artificial. I'm particularly discomfited by the blown-out aspect on the bridge of the nose. I was playing with it a little bit, and came up with this:

In some ways an improvement, in others not. For what it's worth...

Tim, can I have a play with it too??

edited to add, was this a candid or a session, the reason I ask is if it was a client what did he want out of it, did he want his teeth white like that etc??

By all means, be my guest. i can even send you the original RAW if you like, although 20 mb might be tricky to email :P

This was more of a spontaneous thing. I was driving around and saw some construction workers, stopped and asked for permission to take their photos. While i would have loved not having to ask for permission, over here in Saudi Arabia people value their privacy and quickly feel nervous and uncomfortable when a camera is pointed at them, also i wasn't in a crowded place it was just me and the workers so i didn't want to piss anyone off and risk getting beaten up :P

So to answer your question this fellow certainly had no specifications on what he wanted done with his teeth. I think the white teeth were a byproduct of the bleach bypass filter i used.

There are online large-file-transfer places that are free to use, we can download from that. I'd love to see the RAW. Even the full-size, uncompressed JPG would be good, you can put that in your portfolio...
