My old Kodak camera couldn't do it. And today I was outside, and noticed some sunrays coming down, so i went to get the new rebel to test it out.
I wasn't able to catch any. At least very well.
You can kind of see them on the bottom left, but there were so many out there. I thought underexposing would work, but that didn't. So if anyone has any tips on how to do this, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks. |

I would think that a small aperature would help (High F-Stop). |

Actually, I found one photo I missed beforehand, that caught them a little bit better, but still, they were much more prominant. I love the way they look. I just want them to really glow, and be the highlight of the photo. Here, they're kind of there. They don't really make the photo.
Maybe being in a different setting would help. My street is boring. Just a bunch of cars and houses so I tried to keep them out of the shot.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too. I was shooting at an f/20. |

Mine are also in this thread.
Mine are also somewhat lucky shots with a point-and-shoot, and were taken while driving around to make conditions worse. I find if I know I'm going to shoot into the sun, at bright clouds, or most sunsets, that I get a better result with a -0.5 to -1.0 exposure compensation, and spot-metering on the brightest spots. Most P&S cameras can't seem to stop down the lens enough nor shoot fast enough to take these without blowing out large patches of highlights.
