| Need ur help guys....When I put in my MB-D10 battery grip into my D300 the LCD display on the top of the camera do not recognize the battery grip. I'm using a EN-EL3e. I took out the battery from the camera and only put on the MB-D10 with battery full charged and the camera don't work, the top LCD shows the battery is exhausted (shows only 1 bar). Anyone can help me out? |

Is this a new problem with existing equipment or was this working previously?
I know this may seem like a dumb suggestion, but have you removed the rubber cover on the bottom of the D300 to allow the contacts of the grip to connect? |

It was working fine for a year. Yes rubber cover on the bottom is removed. when i screw it in, the green cf light goes blinks, the shutter works, the AF- On button works, the focus selector works only thing is it doesn't register in the camera.

Do you have AA's to try using instead?
Also, try removing the battery and looking into the grip. Do any of the contacts look damaged? This is where the battery interface is, and it's not sounding like there is any recognition of the battery power in general. The contacts for the AA insert are different than what is used for the EN-EL3 if I remember correctly, so if AA's work your EN-EL3 contacts might be compromised. |

I put in regular energizer AA's and still nothing NO "BP" icon on the top LCD screen. If my EN-EL3 is jacked up how would I fix it?

Let me try the AA's, If my EN-EL3 is jacked up how would I fix it? |
I'm not thinking it's the battery, I think it could be the contacts. If you look down into the grip itself you can see where the various contacts interface. The slot looking ones that are in a row together are for the EN-El4, I think the off kilter two are for the EN-El3 and the top ones for the AA, but I don't have my AA battery holder with me to verify. If the off kilter ones are bent or goofy looking at all, I guess you could try and bend them to contact the battery correctly. I'm sure Nikon would be able to service it, but I haven't a clue on the pricing for that...I could send a picture tomorrow of what mine looks like inside if needed.
I'm assuming you tried the same EN-EL3 in your body and it works?

I put in regular energizer AA's and still nothing NO "BP" icon on the top LCD screen. EN-EL3 in the camera body works fine. I looked at the contacts and all looks fine to me.

| If you tried the EN-EL3 in the body and it's fine - make sure when you have the EN-EL3 in the grip your camera is set to use that first. To me, it sounds like a battery issue. May be time for a new one :-) |

I have 4 new "Nikon" batteries. Camera is always set on grip first.

And even it it wasn't, it should still default over to the available power. I just tested that with mine, because that was my first guess.
How do the slot things look on the grip itself where it connects?
Is your firmware up to date?

fixed your link for anybody else.
Well, contacts don't look damaged. What about the contacts on the top of the grip itself? The slot contacts. Do they look damaged at all? What about the prongs that fit into them from the D300 body?
It sounds to me like you either have a short or a contact problem. Contacts can be cleaned and maybe fixed, shorts are... well, a service item.
Does anything show up when you have the settings displayed on the back LCD when you insert and remove the batteries? There are a few odd "insert body battery remove grip insert battery..." blah blah blah type fixes I found on flickr last night, but can't seem to find anymore. They don't seem quite like your issue though.
It really sounds like the entire circuit is not making contact at all. If you've got access to a voltmeter you should be able to check the contacts on the top of the grip and see if the failure is there though.

none of the contacts are damaged. No "BP" shows up on the LCD screen. I shipped it to Nikon to get fix. Thanks for your help and everyone to!!!
