I disagree. I saw this group effort as a mockery of DPChallenge. It came across as a coordinated anti-establishment effort.
As to kleski being selfish - I'd say he's not. And I'd also say he's not alone in his disapproval - just happens to be more vocal. With the 12 group entries receiving on average 30 votes of 1 (that's over 20% of the votes cast on those entries), I'd say there were plenty of DPCr's that weren't amused.
BTW - tnun, add me to your running list in this thread please. Thanks. |
What is my running list? You want to join the ranks of the incoherent?
Egad, of whom have we made mock? The virtual DPChallenge? This transcends metaphysics. And how is Kleski's not being selfish proved by his not being the only one to disapprove - though again, it is not clear what exactly is being disapproved of. |

Bah! Screw it. Doesn't matter. It's just a friggin game anyway. Stupid of me to get worked up about it.
Carry on... |

Yes! Finally! Someone who understands me -- a circle jerk and (reading between the lines) a pompous ass. My manifesto.
I actually was invited to join this group of outcasts, but alas, life got in the way and I couldn't produce an entry in time. Call me the unlucky thirteenth member. Now I know how Pete Best must have felt.
(Sorry if I'm a little late coming to the party. And what a party!) |

Unless I didn't get the Memo (and that's entirely possible) the reprobates called out in this thread had nothing to do with the plethora of "Final Exit" entries in the "Exit" challenge. That's another conspiracy entirely. Perhaps deserves its own thread? |

Creativity needn't involve a group. |
I know this is in response to a two day old post but...
Les Fauves
Cubists
Expressionists
Surrealists
and of course, Abstract Expressionists |

OMG, I've been away from DPC for a couple of weeks as I was out of town on work and I get back to find all this. I am especially shocked that Bear_Music was involved after the nastiness he started against me in the 47 Steps challenge (and has not apologised). In the thread he started then he said
Originally posted by Bear_Music: Now, I haven't checked to see how many, if any, other entries are equally flagrant, but this attitude sort of ticks me off big-time. A whole lot of us entered into the spirit of the challenge |
Surely the behaviour in this challenge makes him a huge hypocrite! Very disappointing. |

You've GOT to be kidding? It's about fooling people. This is what you wrote in your photographer's comments:

See the difference? I have beautiful landscapes within a quarter mile of my house but I followed the description and shot some freakin' dead leaves and sticks 47 steps away. YOU got an honorable mention star and thumbed your nose at us. And we had no way of knowing whether your shot met the challenge until after the fact.
In the Product challenge, the voters could (and did) make up their minds whether what I did was meeting the challenge or not, and score me accordingly. Nobody was conning anybody. Nobody hid anything.

My point is that your attitude is no different from mine - not that the specifics are the same. You were taking the p*ss to a large degree, just as I was. It's the same thing. |

Not even CLOSE to the same thing: yours was a deception revealed only after the fact, the abstract catalogue entries were OBVIOUS at the time of voting, giving voters a chance to decide at the time (one even commented "blatant disregard for the challenge theme--1"
No one had the same opportunity with your 47 steps entry. BIG difference. HUGE difference. You may not want or choose to see it, but it is there for others to see.

Maybe you are right, I was just trying to annoy Bear with that post anyway. |

Thanx for acknowledging that, friend. It's all water over the dam anyway. BTW, I'm sorry if I was a little intemperate at the time, which I probably was. It just happened to be a hot-button issue for me, and really in the end it's all just a game for a virtual ribbon.
So, I apologize, if belatedly.
Peace?

Yeah, peace indeed. The only thing that annoyed me over all that was that you never acknowledged that your thread started all that hate towards me. I figured you didn't mean it to get like that. |
