I recently bought this lens and I got an Achromatic Macro Lens 58 (58mm AML lens) (came free with it!)

Bit of a silly question, I know i use this for macro but what does it actually do?

Thanks in advance,

Sam.

I'm curious too. Anyone know?

It reduces the minimum focus distance, allowing you to get a lot closer to the subject you're photographing. Look in the manuals to see what the minimum focus distance is for the lens alone, and what it becomes with the AML attached.

Wow!!! You're not kiddidng! Min focus for lens is near 1.5 meters. This glass takes it down to about 50cm. Amazing macro stuff, hard to focus on a plant in the wind tho :)
