I took a look through several types of catalogues before even thinking about entering this challenge. My gut said not to enter but, since I took some attempts at it, I ended up entering late in the challenge entry period. In looking through the entries now, I'm thinking that a lot of voters are looking more for the advertising look which is really different than catalogue shots....at least IMHO. :) But, maybe, I'm seeing it from an off perspective??? I don't think that I'm going to vote in this challenge because my perspective on what a catalogue shot should look like, seems to differ from what others think. I want to be fair to all photogs in here so, bowing out of scoring this one :) |
(coming from a guy with an "advertising" shot)
I want to why all of a sudden people are worried about the challenge description? I usually try to stay within the description, but this time wandered away. Now everyone seems upset that there are many that don't fit the letter of the desription, when in the past it seemed if it fit the challenge title, all was well.
I also want to know why no one is voting today? (coming from a guy who isn't voting today)

Just a note on the catalog vs. advertising argument, the challenge description was "Take a photograph of a product that might appear in a catalog." Not, "Take a photograph of a product as it appears in a catalog. |

Hmmmmmmmmm - I wonder why they even bothered to put the word "Catalog" in the description - why not just say "Take a picture of a Product"? I'm sure if they had said "Take a picture of a product as it might appear in an Ad" the catalog type shots would be marked down. There really is a big difference between a catalog and an ad. I guess I should have know better than to take the description literally. ;-) |

Honestly, who would be dumb enough to do that (well, I can think of a few idiots but.. )?? It will be interesting to see who makes up this group of 12. |

(Raises hand... I are an idiot, yes indeed.)
Not voting but I did leave comments for the first 34% of the shots served to me in the challenge. May try to get to 50% but no guarantees. |

Inspite of having some very good photos in this voting, it is darn slower compared to Stopped Motion.

Starting to get slightly embarrassed by my score. Because it is a 'catalog' shot rather than an advertising one, I think I must be gathering high protest votes from the description sticklers, because I don't think my shot is really this good.

I think this might be a positive effect of all the Abstract Catalog images.. To which I have become somewhat more ambivalent... |
