When you enter a challenge, before voting starts, how many times do you go look at the photo you have entered? I swear I look at it every time I log in, trying to decide if it's the right photo for the challenge, seeing what it looks like full size and in the thumbnail version.

See, that's your mistake. You're supposed to wait until 10 minutes before rollover and sweat the decision for an hour before that -- entering and re-entering different photos! :D

I always wait until the last minute. Then never check my score until the end. Good thing too, because I tank the last challenge I was in.

I do that, if it's not a last minute entry I come back to it a couple of times a day, trying to see it with a fresh eye. I'm working on entering what I like and trying to not worry as much about whether it will have broad appeal.

I will have to say that I load, reload, then load again...over and over....I glance at it...study it...remove it...put it back in...yes this is the behavior of an OCD personality (something of which we all have in this varied community)...and I never log out...Karen what are you think of logging in and out...all that time wasted in signing in...sigh...lol

I look at it way too many times, too...and switch it out a half a dozen times or so. I usually enter photos for me but it's hard watching the low score. Especially when it's something that I really like and am proud of...I wish I could just turn off the votes during the challenge but I just have to keep checking to see if the voters are going to come to their senses and see what I see in my wonderful entry. lol

I switched at the last minute for the fine art challenge (I finally decided to share my favorite and to heck with the voters if they didn't like it as much as I did). ;) Turned out well this time with 2 favorites and wonderful comments. :)

Generally no more than once. Although I will occasionally go nuts with about a dozen versions of the same entry, then change it at the last minute.

I look at it many, many times and change it quite frequently as I see it with a fresh eye. Never seems to make a difference, though....sigh!

I study them a lot, if I enter well in advance of the deadline. I'll often tweak the image 3-5 times, entering a new version each time, and then (sadly) will frequently end up reverting to the original version, which shows what a spineless jellyfish of a photographer I am...

Bear's a smart guy ... I do the same ... sometimes reverting to my first entry ... sometimes trying multiple re-edits to present the best image i can. Spontaneity vs. Craft.

In Bear's honor, I quote a Jimmy Buffet song ...

I'd Like To Be A Jelly Fish
Cause Jelly Fish Don't Pay Rent
They Don't Walk, They Don't Talk
With Some Euro-Trash Accents

They're Just Simple Protoplasm
Clear As Cellophane
They Ride The Winds Of Fortune
Life Without A Brain

In One Ear And Out The Other
Don't You Get Criss-Crossed
I Recommend You Try A Little...
Mental Floss

It's The Small Small Problems
That Keep Me So Upset

And Send Me Seeking Shelter
Beneath My Mosquito Net
I Stay There For Hours
Protected From The Nights
All Those Insects And Vipers
Other Things That Bite

In One Ear And Out The Other
Don't You Get Criss-Crossed
I Recommend You Try A Little...

After processing I download a copy to workshop to see how it works on the DPC background. Then I look again after a couple of hours with fresh eyes, download my entry, and await my low score..

Actually, our upcoming cruise with Yakatme and his gal is (hopefully) a perfect example of mental flossing :-)
